This course is the result of a partnership between Anthropic and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), built by educators, for educators.
At Anthropic, we believe that empowering people with skills to wield AI responsibly, and ensuring that AI makes safe contributions to society, requires engaging with a wide range of human perspectives and experiences. Educators are uniquely positioned to leverage AI for social good—and to lead their colleagues in doing the same.
This Train the Trainer course prepares pK–12 educators to facilitate AI fluency learning for other educators. It gives you everything you need to run your own workshop—the deck, the facilitator guide, and grade-band exercises—built around the 4D Framework (Delegation, Description, Discernment, and Diligence). In this course, we’ll explore how to bring the framework to a room full of teachers, from opening an honest conversation about AI to committing to a real task.
The work builds on AI Fluency for pK–12 Educators, adapted into a train-the-trainer format so educators can lead this transition in their own schools and districts, on their own terms.
Recommended prerequisites
Before facilitating, we recommend completing AI Fluency for pK–12 Educators yourself, so you’ve built your own fluency with the 4D Framework before guiding others through it. For deeper foundational understanding, participants may also wish to complete AI Fluency: Framework & Foundations.
It is also recommended that learners have access to an AI tool for hands-on practice. Examples in this course will use Claude.ai, but any AI tool will work.
